American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a CA RN license, Trauma Level I experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

  • Work in the ICU of a Level I Trauma teaching and community hospital setting
  • \n
  • Care for medical, surgical, neuro, and trauma ICU patient populations
  • \n
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • \n
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • \n
  • Sun-Sat scheduling with 4 weekend shifts required in a 4-week cycle
  • \n
  • At least one holiday and the associated holiday weekend must be worked
  • \n
  • May be required to float to like units or lower acuity units (excluding ED) across 5 hospitals in the San Diego area
  • \n
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
  • \n
  • Current AHA certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required (TNCC preferred)
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, including recent experience within the last year
  • \n
  • 1.5+ years of continuous experience in ICU specialty with matching patient ratios
  • \n
  • Minimum 1 year of total travel nursing experience required
  • \n
  • 6+ months of continuous travel experience immediately preceding consideration, with no gaps beyond minimal pre-approved vacations
  • \n
  • Epic or combined Epic/Cerner EMR experience within the last 6 months required
  • \n
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • \n
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • \n
  • Skilled in critical care procedures including ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, EVD, ICP monitoring, and titration of vasoactive/sedation drips
  • \n
  • 1 supervisory-level professional reference required
  • \n
  • Valid copies of all required certifications must be current and active, with no pending certifications accepted
  • \n
Additional Information\n
    \n
  • Deliver critical care nursing to medical, surgical, neuro, and trauma ICU patients, including ventilated and hemodynamically unstable patients
  • \n
  • Manage complex interventions such as central line care, chest tube assistance, CRRT, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
  • \n
  • Support patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and provide emergency cardiac and neurological interventions
  • \n
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • \n
  • Returning staff and travelers eligible to return after a 1-year waiting period following prior assignment
  • \n
  • Maximum 7 days RTO permitted, with no additional requests after consideration
  • \n
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible, with exceptions only for LVNs/MAs
  • \n
  • Candidates who have been on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months in the last year are considered local and ineligible
  • \n
  • International travelers must have at least 1 year of recent U.S. work experience
