A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead all aspects of workplace safety, environmental compliance, and risk management. This role is responsible for developing and executing EHS programs that promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous operational improvement across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive manufacturing experience, strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations, and a passion for driving employee engagement and continuous improvement. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead all environmental, health, and safety programs for the manufacturing facility.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and training programs.

  • Manage OSHA recordkeeping, incident reporting, investigations, and regulatory documentation.

  • Administer the Workers' Compensation program, including claim management, return-to-work coordination, and communication with third-party administrators.

  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses throughout the facility.

  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce workplace injuries and improve safety performance.

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to identify opportunities for risk reduction and continuous improvement.

  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and communicate key performance metrics and improvement initiatives to leadership.

  • Ensure contractors and visitors comply with all applicable site safety requirements.

  • Support environmental compliance activities, including regulatory reporting, waste management, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Maintain required EHS records, documentation, permits, and compliance files.

  • Monitor EHS performance metrics and develop action plans to achieve company safety objectives.

  • Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, and leadership visibility.

 



Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Previous leadership experience managing site-wide EHS programs.

  • Experience with environmental and occupational safety management systems preferred.

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent are preferred.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental and workplace safety regulations.

  • Experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis.

  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, hazard recognition, and injury prevention.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence all levels of the organization.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

  • Experience analyzing safety data and developing actionable improvement plans.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while fostering teamwork and accountability.
