Activities Assistant

Job Summary

The Activity Assistant supports the Life Enrichment team in planning, coordinating, and leading meaningful recreational, social, and wellness activities for assisted living residents. This role helps enhance residents’ quality of life by promoting engagement, independence, and social interaction in a safe and encouraging environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and facilitating daily group and individual activities (games, crafts, music, exercise, outings, etc.)
• Encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences and abilities
• Provide one-on-one engagement for residents who may need extra support
• Help prepare activity spaces and materials before and after programs
• Accompany residents on scheduled outings and community events as assigned
• Document resident participation and report observations or concerns to the Life Enrichment Director or nursing staff
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere at all times
• Follow all safety procedures, infection control policies, and resident rights guidelines
• Work collaboratively with nursing, dietary, and caregiving teams

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in assisted living, senior care, recreation, or activities preferred
• Compassionate, patient, and energetic personality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to engage residents with varying cognitive and physical abilities
• Must be able to pass background check and pre-employment screening
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with resident mobility as needed
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to participate in activities both indoors and outdoors

Schedule

• Flexible scheduling may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on activity calendar
