Job Description

The Unit Manager (LPN) is responsible for the day-to-day clinical and operational management of an assigned nursing unit while providing direct resident care as needed. This is a working leadership position that combines hands-on nursing responsibilities with staff supervision, care coordination, regulatory compliance, and resident advocacy.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care, including medication administration and treatments.
  • Monitor resident conditions and report significant changes to the physician and nursing leadership.
  • Ensure physician orders, care plans, and documentation are completed accurately and timely.
  • Participate in admissions, transfers, discharges, and care planning.
  • Follow up on labs, consultations, and resident care concerns.
Unit Management
  • Oversee daily operations of the assigned unit.
  • Conduct rounds and address resident, family, and staff concerns.
  • Monitor incidents, falls, wounds, infections, and other clinical issues to ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintain compliance with facility policies and state and federal regulations.
Staff Leadership
  • Supervise and support nursing staff and CNAs assigned to the unit.
  • Assist with staff orientation, training, and performance management.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and quality resident care.
Quality & Compliance
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and survey readiness efforts.
  • Ensure resident rights, dignity, confidentiality, and safety are maintained.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • Current LPN license in good standing.
  • Long-term care experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Schedule
  • Full-time position.
  • Monday through Friday schedule.
  • Required to work one weekend per month.
