Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Suspension Mechanic to join our manufacturing and industrial shop . The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of equipment within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems, electrical diagnostics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and trailer troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks. MUST HAVE YOUR OWN TOOLS
1st Shift: 7:00am-3:00pm, little over time involved
Duties
- Performs repair work on trailers, trouble shoots and determines appropriate method to repair or replace defective equipment below: Standard spring ride suspensio Air ride suspension Braking systems Torque arm replacement and adjusting for alignment Axle alignment Brake and hub replacemen ABS system FF2 control valve systems with relay valve Brake interlock system Full suspension strip and build outs Plumbing of all air systems Full wiring of the unit front to back and trouble shooting COMPLETE UNDERTSTANDING OF EVERYTHING UNDER A SEMI TRACTOR (TRAILER) AND THEN SOME.
- Surveys damage on trailer suspension components and determines appropriate procedures to repair. Notifies supervisor regarding recommended procedures.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics
- Checks, inspects, and reports to supervisor regarding conditions on: Upper 5th plates, equalizers, rocker boxes, springs, bushings, wheel, wheel bearings and seals, tires, brake systems
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Read electrical schematics and blueprints to facilitate precise repairs and modifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols
Skills
- Extensive experience in manufacturing facility maintenance with a strong background in industrial mechanics.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics including low voltage, high voltage, and troubleshooting pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of schematics reading, electrical blueprint interpretation, and math and measuring
- Hands-on experience as a mechanic or trailer work
- Strong customer service orientation when working with internal teams or external clients during field service tasks.
- Analysis skills for diagnosing issues efficiently and implementing effective solutions.
