Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Muskogee, OK 74401
Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Schedule: 36 hours/week, 3 shifts/week, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Pay Range: $27.17 – $40.76 per hour
Job Summary-
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating respiratory care services for patients in accordance with hospital policies, departmental standards, and physician orders. This role provides high-quality respiratory care to patients in both critical and non-critical care settings while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities-
-Assess patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate respiratory care plans.
Administer respiratory treatments including nebulizer therapy, metered-dose inhalers, humidity and aerosol therapy, and medical gas therapy.
-Perform respiratory procedures such as incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, respiratory mechanics, PEP therapy, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, intubation, extubation, and bronchoscopy assistance.
-Manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, monitor patient response, and adjust ventilator settings as appropriate.
-Respond promptly to Code Blue, Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), CRIT calls, and patient transports.
Verify physician orders and accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
-Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while respecting patient rights and cultural, psychosocial, and age-specific needs.
- Mentor and support newly hired respiratory therapists and assist in staff education.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, in-service education, and hospital performance improvement activities.
- Prioritize workload efficiently and respond appropriately to changing patient conditions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills-
- Proficiency in respiratory assessment and therapeutic interventions.
- Experience with mechanical ventilation management.
- Knowledge of respiratory medications and airway management techniques.
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to accurately document clinical information.
- Basic computer proficiency for electronic medical records and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications:-
Education-
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
Licensure & Certifications-
- Valid Oklahoma Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License, Oklahoma Provisional RCP License, or temporary practice letter issued by the Oklahoma Medical Board.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within two months of hire.
Experience-
- 0 to 6 months of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
- New graduates are encouraged to apply.

- Hospital-based clinical environment.
- Direct patient care in both critical care and non-critical care units.
- Frequent interaction with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Requires independent clinical judgment and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
