A global leader in air and sea logistics, freight forwarding, and transportation services is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support its North America operations. This is a high‑impact, senior in‑house role responsible for advising business leaders across the U.S. and Canada on commercial, regulatory, and operational matters within a fast‑paced, international environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in air and ocean freight, transportation law, and commercial contracting, along with the ability to partner closely with executives, operational teams, and global legal colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support for North American operations, including commercial, regulatory, compliance, and risk‑related matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, carrier agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and service-level agreements.
- Advise on legal issues related to air freight, ocean freight, freight forwarding, warehousing, customs, and cross‑border transportation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant transportation and trade regulations, including DOT, TSA, FMC, CBP, IATA, and other governing bodies.
- Support dispute resolution, claims management, and litigation strategy in coordination with external counsel.
- Partner with internal stakeholders across operations, sales, procurement, compliance, HR, and global legal teams.
- Assist with policy development, internal training, and implementation of legal best practices across the region.
- Provide strategic guidance on risk mitigation, contract structure, and operational decision‑making.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 8+ years of legal experience, including in‑house or law firm experience supporting logistics, transportation, supply chain, or freight forwarding clients.
- Required: Strong background in air and sea logistics, including air cargo, ocean freight, and international transportation regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and operational legal support.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with global teams.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
Compensation & Work Environment
- Base Salary: $200,000 - $210,000 and a comprehensive benefits, including Health, Life, Disability Insurance coverage, 401K, PTO and much more!
