Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Objective: Responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, installation and removal of all equipment and machinery in the facility. Partner with leaders to meet all business objectives. Manage all activities of the Maintenance department.

Essential Functions

1. Quickly respond to and resolve equipment and machinery breakdowns and emergencies. Keep management informed of downtime
2. Install and remove equipment, machinery and products. Change blades, saws, conveyor belts
3. Ensure Forklifts are properly maintained at all times, including but not limited to: Tune up, oil & filter changes, brakes inspection, fluid & repair, general maintenance.
4. Drive forklift to deliver/remove materials from work site
5. Perform preventive maintenance, including but not limited to: lubricating machines
6. Ensure compliance with Lock Out Tag Out and all other safety and hazardous materials handling procedures
7. Ensure fire extinguishers and sprinkler system are inspected monthly. Document compliance.
8. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations and company policies, including but not limited to: wage and hour, employment law, harassment, discrimination and retaliation.
9. Manage facility propane use
10. Complete department paperwork, including but not limited to OSHA records, work orders, parts and equipment orders, safety investigations and documents
11. Ensure compliance with all safety and hazardous materials handling procedures
12. Requires consistent, reliable attendance, on-site, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. Requires occasional overtime and weekend work.
13. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 40 pounds. Must be able to stand, climb, squat and crawl for minimum 8 hours per day. Requires overhead reaching and working.
14. Have a valid driver license

Other Duties

1. Partner with others to improve plant efficiency and cost effectiveness
2. Other duties as assigned
3. At all times behave in a professional and courteous manner
4. Lead improvement projects to maintain outstanding maintenance, safety and cleanliness in the facility
5. Keep work areas clean, organized and free of hazards

Reporting Relationship - Reports to Plant Manager and Maintenance Lead

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires constant lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 40 lbs.
2. Requires constant kneeling, squatting, walking, standing and overhead work.
3. High School Diploma or equivalent
4. Previous experience welding and fabrication work
5. Prior experience using hand and powered tools
6. Must achieve and maintain forklift certification
7. Ability to be trained to perform all essential functions and other duties
8. Excellent communication skills
9. Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two (4) years experience continually working in maintenance or related position
2. Prior experience in paper manufacturing
3. Bilingual English-Spanish
