Director of Social Service – The Richmond

Are you passionate about addressing homelessness through innovative programming, team leadership and trauma-informed care?  Project Hospitality is seeking a dynamic Director of Social Service of The Richmond our new DHS Adult Family Shelter Program to join our Team.  In this impactful, high-visibility role, you’ll drive transformational change across our brand new adult family shelter program supporting adults experiencing homelessness as well as the factors which keep them homeless.  This role offers the chance to leave a lasting impact on the lives of individuals by helping them find stability, dignity and hope when they need it most.

 

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Lead our social services staff at our new adult family shelter by establishing and maintaining effective lines of communication with all staff
  • Be a representative not only of the program, but the agency in general, at interagency council meetings
  • Serve as a liaison between The Richmond and other social service providers to ensure that our clients can obtain the services that they are entitled to

 

What we’ll expect you to do:

  • Oversee and train the Case Managers, Recreation Coordinators and Housing Specialists as indicated
  • Assume responsibility for the delivery of social services and entitlements to residents of the shelter to include health care of residents, including mental health
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Case Manager, Housing Specialist and Residential Aide staff on all details pertaining to social service delivery and entitlements
  • Provide supervision to the Social Services staff as per agency policy; also recommendation for hiring, firing and performance evaluations of Social Service staff
  • Implement on-site programming in conjunction with the Shelter/Program Director, including parenting, housing readiness and other in-house programs as well as design curriculum for group work
  • Responsible for reporting to various regulatory agencies on an ongoing basis
  • 24/7 on-call support to program staff as needed

 

The credentials and experience we require:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work with applicable work related experience, LMSW/LCSW preferred, including supervisory experience
  • Needs ability to establish workload priorities and balance diverse projects
  • Must have exceptional communication skills both orally and in writing with individuals and groups regarding complex and sensitive issues or regulations
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions are needed
  • The willingness to perform any duties as required to meet the needs of the program and the clients we serve
