Job Description
For over 37 years, Safe Refuge is known for offering a complete continuum of care: from residential to outpatient drug and alcohol treatment so individuals may retake control of their lives.
At Safe Refuge, we believe everyone deserves the chance to recover from addictions to alcohol or drugs and so our programs are open to the population at large – not just those financially able to fund their own recovery. We also serve clients with combined mental health and addiction issues (co-occurring disorders).
Pay Range: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Must have knowledge of recovery and supportive services for persons with substance abuse issues.
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, homelessness and substance abuse related issues is preferred.
- Must possess basic knowledge, skills and abilities in office automation equipment and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet applications.
- Pass an extensive background check, including criminal history
- Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States
Duties:
- Answer a high volume of incoming phone calls while welcoming and assisting clients in the reception area.
- Greet clients, guests, and visitors in a friendly manner, and answer any questions they may have.
- Keep track of incoming calls and messages with the call log and assist in making sure that we call the potential clients back.
- Assist with managing, scheduling and confirming appointments on the calendar.
- Provide basic, accurate and up-to-date information about Safe Refuge to callers and visitors while adhering to HIPAA and agency protocols and direct calls and emails to appropriate personnel.
- Ensure the reception and waiting area is neat and presentable with all necessary stationery and materials.
- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure HIPAA rules, regulations, policies and procedures are always followed.
- Must participate in all agency training, which includes training in laws of confidentiality, resident rights and general knowledge of Title 9 regulations.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, personnel files and internal communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Function:
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function required of this position.
Supervisory Relationship: Works under the supervision of the Lead Intake Specialist

Must have a high degree of sensitivity to the agency's target populations, including substance abusers/users, correctional populations, persons with HIV/AIDS, LGBT community, the homeless, indigent and those with co-occurring disorders.
