Location: Indianapolis, IN - Field-Based
Schedule: Full-Time - Day or Night Shifts
Travel: Occasional Project-Based Travel
Gilliatte General Contractors is hiring an experienced Commercial Carpenter to support construction projects in Indianapolis and other locations as needed. The strongest candidates will have hands-on experience with metal stud framing, drywall installation, commercial doors and hardware, and acoustical ceilings.

- Frame and construct walls using metal studs and other specified materials.
- Hang and install drywall according to plans and specifications.
- Install commercial doors, frames, and hardware, including drilling and setting hardware.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, drywall, and other construction materials.
- Plumb, level, and align structures to ensure they meet project specifications.
- Install acoustical ceiling systems when required.
- Read and follow project drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work effectively with superintendents, subcontractors, laborers, and other trades.
- Travel to project sites and work day or night shifts when project schedules require it.
- 1-5 years of carpentry or construction experience, preferably in commercial construction.
- Experience framing walls and installing doors and hardware.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, assemble, plumb, level, and align materials.
- Working knowledge of standard carpentry tools and jobsite safety practices.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work full-time in a field-based construction environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and adjust between day and night shifts based on project needs.
- Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work productively as part of a team.
- Experience with metal stud framing and drywall hanging.
- Experience installing acoustical ceiling systems.
- Commercial construction experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
Candidates must be able to perform the physical duties of commercial carpentry, including standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and safely lifting and carrying construction materials and tools up to 70 lbs.
A strong candidate is a reliable carpenter who takes pride in quality workmanship, follows safety requirements, communicates well, and can adapt to changing project schedules and jobsite conditions.
