Job Description
A Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and troubleshooting of a facility's equipment, machinery, and physical structures. The role ensures operations run safely and efficiently by transitioning from reactive repairs to proactive preventive maintenance.
Responsibilities- Perform routine inspections, clean and lubricate machinery, and change filters or lightbulbs to prevent equipment failure.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Handle general repairs including plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, and masonry.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, material consumption, and labor hours, often using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Adhere strictly to OSHA safety standards, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and manage hazardous waste disposal.
- A high school diploma or GED is typically required; technical certifications or an Associate's degree in Building Maintenance Technology are preferred.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools, reading blueprints, and understanding complex schematics.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in cramped or adverse weather conditions.
- Analytical thinking to identify root causes of failures rather than just symptoms.
- Effective communication skills for reporting issues to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize urgent repairs against scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Technical certifications in relevant areas.
- Proficiency in using CMMS for documentation and tracking.
