Job Title: Blender Operator / Dryer Operator – Food ProductionJob Description

This role supports a food production plant by operating blending and drying equipment, overseeing mixing and bagging operations, and performing general production duties. The position involves working on a rotating schedule on either an AM or PM shift, handling materials safely, and maintaining consistent product quality while meeting production targets.

Responsibilities
  • Operate blenders and mixing equipment to prepare batches according to production specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor and adjust machines during mixing, blending, and batching to ensure consistent product quality and output.
  • Operate dryers and oversee related processes, including mixing and bagging operations, to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Perform general production and machine operation tasks, including loading materials, monitoring lines, and handling finished products.
  • Use forklifts or other material-handling equipment, as needed, to move raw materials and finished goods safely within the facility.
  • Train, lead, and develop production team members, providing guidance on safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Fill in and cover responsibilities in the supervisor’s absence to ensure continuous and efficient production operations.
  • Perform computer data entry to record production information, batch details, and other required documentation accurately.
  • Apply problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills to identify and resolve equipment, process, or quality issues.
  • Work in confined spaces during cleaning and troubleshooting activities when required, following safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all plant safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and stand for long periods while performing production and machine operation tasks.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support production goals and plant operations.
Essential Skills
  • Experience within food production is preferred and strongly beneficial for success in this role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and basic batch adjustments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to perform accurate data entry.
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time during production shifts.
  • Capability to lift 50 pounds repetitively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills to troubleshoot issues and maintain smooth operations.
  • Experience with general production and machine operation in a manufacturing or food production setting.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.
  • Comfort working in confined spaces during cleaning and troubleshooting tasks, following safety protocols.
  • Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, on either AM or PM schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a blender operator, mixer, or batching operator in food or related industries.
  • Experience operating dryers and overseeing mixing and bagging operations.
  • Background in general labor roles within production or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with basic machine operating procedures and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, lead, and develop team members in a production setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food production plant in Orangeville, IL. The position follows a rotating schedule on either an AM or PM shift: the AM shift runs from 4:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with rotating weekends (three days one week and four days the following week), and the PM shift runs from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. with the same rotating weekend schedule. The work involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds repetitively, and working around industrial mixing, blending, drying, and bagging equipment. You may work in confined spaces during cleaning and troubleshooting, always following safety procedures. The environment is production-focused, with exposure to typical plant conditions such as noise, moving machinery, and food ingredients, and requires adherence to plant safety and sanitation standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orangeville, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
