Job Description

This role supports the construction of a new fruit storage building from the ground up. You will assist with setting concrete forms, raising walls, and performing a variety of hands-on tasks in an open-air, open-ground construction environment. The position requires strong practical construction skills, reliable tool use, and the ability to work safely and efficiently as part of a field crew.

Responsibilities

• Assist with building a new fruit storage facility from the ground up, including early-phase construction activities.
• Set and secure concrete forms according to specifications and guidance from the crew.
• Help stand and brace walls and other structural components in an open-air environment.
• Use a hammer safely and effectively for framing, fastening, and general construction tasks.
• Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to support cutting, layout, and alignment work.
• Operate and use levels to ensure structures, forms, and components are plumb and level.
• Work as an assistant to other construction workers and follow directions from the crew leadership.
• Use a measuring square and other basic hand tools to support layout and construction accuracy.
• Support general construction, production, and packing tasks related to the project as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in an active construction site.
• Collaborate with crew members, communicate clearly, and contribute to a productive team environment.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of real, hands-on construction experience.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for construction tasks.
• Ability to swing and control a hammer safely and effectively.
• Strong understanding of basic construction practices, tools, and field workflows.
• Ability to run and interpret a level to ensure proper alignment and plumb surfaces.
• Experience with new construction environments and general labor duties.
• Comfort working in open-air, open-ground construction sites.
• Reliability in following instructions and supporting experienced construction workers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with forming concrete for foundations or structural elements.
• Familiarity with using a measuring square for layout and framing tasks.
• Exposure to using a scissor lift in a construction setting.
• Background in general labor, construction production, or packing work.
• Ability to handle basic construction tools and equipment safely and responsibly.

Work Environment

You will work on an active construction site in an open ground, open air environment. The project involves constructing a large fruit storage building with significant structural and concrete work. You will be part of a field crew that includes 1–2 additional helpers and experienced construction workers, under the direction of a foreman. The work involves hands-on use of tools such as hammers, tape measures, measuring squares, levels, and potentially scissor lifts, with tasks performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Royal City, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
