Job Description
Empower students with visual impairments to succeed in an inclusive educational setting by taking on a rewarding contract assignment guiding K-12 learners. This opportunity is designed for an inspiring Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) who is ready to support approximately 8 students near Colorado Springs, CO. Working 15-20 hours per week from August 11 through May 20, you’ll make a meaningful impact in the classroom and beyond.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification or endorsement as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with children who are blind or partially sighted in K-12 settings
- Proficient in adapting curriculum and materials for accessibility
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility strategies
- Effective collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, classroom teachers, and families
- Compassionate communicator who fosters student independence and growth
What You’ll Do:
- Offer direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups
- Adapt classroom materials and resources for accessibility based on each student’s needs
- Consult with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications
- Conduct and document assessments to monitor progress and recommend individualized strategies
- Support development of students’ daily living and mobility skills
- Partner with families, specialists, and school staff to ensure every student’s success
