Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Colorado Springs, CO

This opportunity is designed for an inspiring Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) who is ready to support approximately 8 students near Colorado Springs, CO. Working 15-20 hours per week from August 11 through May 20, you’ll make a meaningful impact in the classroom and beyond.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Certification or endorsement as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with children who are blind or partially sighted in K-12 settings
• Proficient in adapting curriculum and materials for accessibility
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility strategies
• Effective collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, classroom teachers, and families
• Compassionate communicator who fosters student independence and growth

What You’ll Do:

• Offer direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups
• Adapt classroom materials and resources for accessibility based on each student’s needs
• Consult with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications
• Conduct and document assessments to monitor progress and recommend individualized strategies
• Support development of students’ daily living and mobility skills
• Partner with families, specialists, and school staff to ensure every student’s success
