Job Title: 1st Shift Maintenance TechnicianJob Description

This 1st shift Maintenance Technician role focuses on keeping ice cream cone production equipment running safely and reliably through both reactive repairs and preventative maintenance. You will troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on cone-making machines, support production by operating an oven line when not performing maintenance, and help ensure a safe, compliant food manufacturing environment. The role requires comfort with periods of low activity, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to provide occasional after-hours technical support and troubleshooting, either remotely or on-site, to support production and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on ice cream cone making machines to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on cone-making equipment and related systems to reduce the likelihood of breakdowns and extend equipment life.
  • Operate an ice cream cone machine oven when maintenance tasks are not immediately required, ensuring consistent product quality and throughput.
  • Remain available and ready to respond even during idle periods so that you can address equipment issues promptly when they arise.
  • Provide occasional after-hours technical support and troubleshooting assistance, either remotely or on-site, to support production and maintenance needs.
  • Apply safe work practices at all times, with particular attention to electrical safety and food safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Use basic computer skills to access documentation, log maintenance activities, and support troubleshooting processes.
  • Assist with troubleshooting activities, including mechanical and basic electrical issues, and contribute to identifying root causes of recurring problems.
  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Follow all plant policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to food safety standards.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair production machinery.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and support basic electrical troubleshooting within a safe working framework.
  • Comfort working in a food manufacturing environment and following strict hygiene and safety procedures.
  • Understanding of and commitment to electrical safety practices.
  • Basic computer skills to support documentation, communication, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Willingness and ability to provide occasional after-hours technical support and troubleshooting, both remotely and on-site, as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices (preferred).
  • Familiarity with food safety principles and requirements (a plus, not required).
  • Exposure to or experience with PLC troubleshooting (a plus, not required).
  • Prior experience as a maintenance technician or mechanic in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Ability to work effectively during periods of both high activity and idle time, including operating production equipment when needed.
Why Work Here?

You will join a small, close-knit organization of around 50 people or fewer, where your contributions have a visible impact and you can build strong working relationships across the facility. The company environment offers the stability and resources of a larger ownership structure while maintaining the feel of a small operation, providing a balance of familiarity, collaboration, and long-term opportunity.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that produces ice cream cones. The oven area can be hot, while the packing area is cooler, reflecting the typical range of temperatures in a production environment. You will work around cone-making machines, ovens, and packaging equipment and must follow all food safety and manufacturing protocols. Personal protective equipment is required, including hair nets, beard nets as applicable, smocks, safety glasses, and other PPE as directed by site policies. The position is on 1st shift, with the expectation that you may occasionally provide after-hours support, either remotely or on-site, to assist with production and maintenance needs.
