Job Title: Tool and Die Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Tool and Die Specialist to interpret specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and determine the materials and machinery required for fabricating parts and molds.
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN VIRGINIA BEACH VA, WE WILL COVER FULL RELOCATION
Responsibilities
- Utilize a complete set of toolmaker skills with all shop equipment, including milling, lathe, precision grinding, polishing, and fitting, to make parts to print.
- Grind flat and contoured surfaces, fit assemblies together, and integrate them into mechanisms using a surface grinder.
- Employ advanced manual machining skills, such as milling contours, engraving, turning threads, boring pockets, grinding flats, diameters, shoulders, slots, and dressing radii.
- Maintain close and exacting tolerances and finish requirements to ensure the highest quality workmanship on all tools, gages, and fixtures with minimal scrap.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry, and possess comprehensive knowledge of gages, precision measuring instruments, and inspection equipment.
- Work occasionally independently with minimum guidance in a team environment.
- Set up and assemble new equipment, supporting manufacturing and engineering on new and existing product lines.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on injection molds, including electrical and hydraulic components.
- Reverse engineer and manufacture mold components within time limitations and rebuild complete hot runner systems.
- Perform complex mold repairs and spot shutoffs, and demonstrate basic welding skills (TIG, Micro) for minor touch-up work.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in tool and die making, surface grinding, EDM, injection molding, progressive die, and manual milling.
- 4+ years of experience with progressive die tool and die making.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 4 and 5 axis CNC skills for mill or lathe.
- Extensive knowledge of detail cutting tool geometry for different cutting tool types and materials.
- Ability to multitask and run multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously.
- Experience with sinker EDM.
- Ability to complete complex mold repairs and spot shutoffs.

Work Environment
Work in a climate-controlled environment with a 12-hour night shift from 6:45 PM to 6:45 AM. The schedule is as follows: Week One - Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday; Week Two - Wednesday, Thursday. The role involves frequent standing and occasional walking or sitting, with activities like handling objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
