Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a critical access hospital, requiring dual competency in both the ED and Med-Surg settings with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

  • Swing position at a critical access hospital combining ER and inpatient (Med-Surg) care
  • \n
  • Typical weekly schedule includes two inpatient floor shifts and one ER night shift
  • \n
  • Combined adult and pediatric general emergency department
  • \n
  • Average daily census of 17–18 patients
  • \n
  • Night shift schedule (3x12-hour shifts, 18:00–06:30)
  • \n
  • Every other weekend required
  • \n
  • On-call required: 2 call shifts per month, available 05:00–19:00 for day or night call-offs in either the ED or Acute Care unit
  • \n
  • Medication dispensing via Pyxis
  • \n
  • Documentation via T-System
  • \n
  • No floating requirement outside of the dual ED/Med-Surg assignment
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active CO RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • \n
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC
  • \n
  • Prior ED experience with the ability to function independently in an emergency department setting
  • \n
  • Ability to work comfortably in both ED and Med-Surg settings
  • \n
  • Must reside within a 1-hour radius of the facility to meet on-call response requirements
  • \n
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years
  • \n
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained
  • \n
Additional Information\n
    \n
  • Critical access hospital experience is strongly preferred
  • \n
  • Prior charge nurse experience is preferred
  • \n
  • Pediatric emergency experience is preferred, including conditions such as asthma, epiglottitis, near drowning, and seizures
  • \n
  • Clinical skills include triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, ABG interpretation, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ventilated patient care
  • \n
  • Neurological experience relevant to this role includes CVA, TBI, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord injury
  • \n
  • Trauma experience relevant to this role includes shock/trauma, gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, and ortho trauma
  • \n
  • Mental and behavioral health conditions management is part of the expected scope
  • \n
  • All time off requests must be submitted at the time of initial profile consideration
  • \n
  • RTO must be approved by the manager
  • \n
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
