Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in New Jersey, requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and travel nursing experience.

Details\n

\n
• Level II and Level III NICU setting within a hospital environment
\n
• Patient population includes neonates ranging from less than 24 weeks to greater than 34 weeks gestational age
\n
• Patient ratio of 1:2
\n
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
\n
• Float to Baby Nurse as needed
\n
• Epic EMR (experience preferred)
\n
• 13-week contract
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active NJ RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
\n
• Current certifications required: BLS and NRP or NRP Advanced; S.T.A.B.L.E. preferred
\n
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
\n
• Travel nursing experience required
\n
• Epic EMR experience preferred
\n
• Proficiency with NICU skills including: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line blood draw and care, UAC/UVC management, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), Bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, and neonatal dosage calculations
\n
• Experience with neonatal medications including antibiotics/antivirals, anti-seizure medications, steroids, and surfactants
\n
• Experience caring for patients with respiratory distress syndrome, meconium aspiration, neonatal sepsis, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and seizure disorders
\n
• Experience with phototherapy, blood glucose monitoring, and hyperbilirubinemia management
\n
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Responsibilities include APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, phlebotomy, breastfeeding support, gavage feedings, and patient/family teaching
\n
• Attend high-risk deliveries as needed
\n
• Modules are completed onsite during orientation (approximately 4–6 hours for RNs)
\n
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
\n
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO during the first week of orientation
\n
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
\n
