Job Title: Inpatient Hospital Pharmacist

\n

Location: Alturas CA

Shift: Varied - days, 5- 8 hour shifts

 Summary\n

We seeking an experienced Inpatient Hospital Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services in an acute care hospital setting. Under the direction of the Pharmaceutical Services Director, the Pharmacist is responsible for the procurement, preparation, dispensing, storage, monitoring, and safe administration of medications while ensuring compliance with all California State and Federal regulations.

Responsibilities\n

\n
• Review and verify all inpatient medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety.
\n
• Provide clinical pharmacy services and drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
\n
• Verify patients' home medications prior to use during hospitalization.
\n
• Oversee medication procurement, storage, distribution, inventory, and dispensing.
\n
• Maintain pharmacy inventory, Omnicell systems, crash carts, emergency medication kits, and specialty medication boxes.
\n
• Ensure compliance with California pharmacy laws, Joint Commission standards, and Federal regulations.
\n
• Maintain records related to medication procurement, dispensing, billing, controlled substances, and medication destruction.
\n
• Monitor controlled substance security, hazardous drug disposal, and quality assurance activities.
\n
• Assist with pharmacy licensing, policy development, and regulatory compliance.
\n
• Support cost-effective purchasing through formulary management.
\n
• Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge when assigned.
\n
• Resolve medication discrepancies in a timely manner.
\n
• Provide emergency retail pharmacy coverage on weekends during scheduled shifts.
\n
• Participate in after-hours on-call pharmacist coverage.
\n
• Complete all required administrative documentation and compliance activities.
\n
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
\n

Qualifications\n

\n
• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
\n
• Active Pharmacist license in the State of California (or eligible to obtain prior to start).
\n
• Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience within the last 3 years is required.
\n
• Previous acute care hospital experience strongly preferred.
\n
• Knowledge of California pharmacy regulations and hospital pharmacy operations.
\n
• Experience with electronic medication management systems and automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell preferred).
\n
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
