\n Job Description:
\n Ideally, the candidate will have acute care (working in a hospital seeing inpatients) experience of at least 1yr.
\n Applicant must have or get (prior) a current Food Handler's Card from the County of Riverside.
\n If they have a current ServSafe Manager certification – that will suffice as well.
\n a. Immediately follows up on patients who have prolonged NPO status as appropriate for age group served, according to hospital policy and procedures.
\n b. Makes appropriate recommendations to physician for nutrition care plan and/or needs.
\n c. Follows up and documents on patients of all age groups on nutrition support to include calculations of current regimen in calorie, protein, and fluid intake, tolerance to current regimen based on clinical data, and nutritional goals, unless patient is stable or on long – term nutrition support according to hospital policy and procedures.
\n d. Conducts patient/family nutrition related education that:
\n 1) Is appropriate to the patient's age, learning needs, level of understanding, and readiness to learn.
\n 2) Includes the family/significant others when appropriate.
\n e. Documents nutritional intervention and patient teaching on designated forms.
\n f. Accurately calculates nutrition support regimens as needed and modified diets.
\n g. Monitors and implements nutrition care plan based on nutrition needs and physician orders according to hospital policy and procedures.
\n h. Provides nutrition consultation on patients within 24 hours of physician orders and 48 hours of nursing generated referrals.
\n i. Updates pertinent patient information effectively communicating to fellow dietitian(s) and/or diet clerk(s) the dates the patient is to be followed up on, including any diet preferences and nutritional care plan needs to assist the diet office in daily planning of meals and snacks.
\n POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
\n 1. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLs:
\n The ability to effectively use office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, fax machine, calculator, copy machine, keyboard, printer, telephone system and other required technology (hardware and software systems).
\n 2. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
\n 0 – 5 years of total acute care experience.
\n 3. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
\n Completion of all academic and supervised practice requirements as set forth by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Commission on Dietetic Registration with a minimum of a master's degree in food and/or nutrition related field granted by a USDE Individuals who established eligibility for the registration examination for dietitians on or before December 31, 2023, or those who are already registered will not be required by CDR to obtain a graduate degree.
\n Individuals eligible before the graduate degree requirement takes effect will not be required to take the examination before January 1, 2024.
\n 4. REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS
\n Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a dietitian (RD) or dietitian nutritionist (RDN), and any certifications as may be required by the state.
\n Maintains Certification in Food Service Sanitation by the Department of Public Health (Riverside County).
\n 5. WORK ENVIRONMENT
\n Works in clean, well-lighted, well-ventilated work environment.
\n Subject to irregular hours.
