Senior Mentoring Attorney (3/2 Hybrid) – Austin, TX

A growing and highly respected Texas-based family law practice is seeking an experienced Senior Mentoring Attorney to join its Austin team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned family law attorney who enjoys complex litigation, courtroom advocacy, client representation, and mentoring and supporting other attorneys and legal professionals.

The Senior Mentoring Attorney will maintain an active family law practice while serving as a senior resource and mentor to associate attorneys and support staff. This role will work closely with firm leadership on case strategy, client advocacy, attorney development, and the continued growth of the firm's legal team. The firm offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment, strong support, and flexibility through a hybrid work schedule.

What You'll Do

  • Handle a diverse and sophisticated caseload of Texas family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, enforcement, modifications, and related litigation.
  • Serve as lead counsel in contested hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Manage cases from intake through resolution while maintaining exceptional client service.
  • Develop case strategy and collaborate with firm leadership on complex matters.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to associate attorneys throughout the lifecycle of their cases.
  • Serve as a resource to paralegals, legal assistants, and other support staff.
  • Help less-experienced attorneys develop legal judgment, case strategy, courtroom skills, and client-management abilities.
  • Review and provide guidance on pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal work as appropriate.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare complex pleadings, motions, briefs, and other case-related documents.
  • Maintain proactive and effective communication with clients throughout the legal process.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Contribute to a collaborative culture focused on professional development, client service, and high-quality legal work.

What We're Looking For

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
  • 7+ years of Texas family law experience.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex family law litigation and courtroom matters.
  • Strong experience with hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and case-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a significant caseload.
  • Strong client communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to provide sound legal guidance and exercise strong professional judgment.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting junior attorneys and/or legal staff is strongly preferred.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a genuine interest in helping others develop professionally.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $130,000–$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Potential sign-on bonus for highly qualified candidates.
  • Relocation assistance may be available.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Continuing legal education support and professional development opportunities.
  • Hybrid work environment with significant flexibility.
  • Opportunity for long-term career growth within a growing Texas family law practice.

Why This Opportunity

This position is ideal for an experienced family law attorney who wants to continue practicing at a high level while having a meaningful impact on the development of other attorneys and legal professionals.

The Senior Mentoring Attorney will not be moving away from practicing law. Instead, this role provides an opportunity to leverage years of experience by serving as a trusted legal resource, helping shape case strategy, developing junior attorneys, and supporting a strong and collaborative legal team.

If you're an experienced Texas family law attorney who enjoys practicing law and takes pride in helping others become better attorneys, this could be an excellent long-term opportunity.
