DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Pharmacy Technicians at Warren State Hospital help ensure safe medication handling and support pharmacists in meeting clinical standards. This role requires steady focus, accuracy, and respect for established procedures. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will perform the following duties:

  • Medication Preparation: Prepare medications according to practitioner orders for pharmacist review and delivery
  • Drug Dynamics Knowledge: Apply understanding of dosages, administration rules, and dosage forms to process stock orders and related documentation
  • Record Handling: Process medication records and patient profiles using pharmacist-reviewed parameters to support reports and reviews
  • Medical Communication: Interpret pharmaceutical terms, measuring systems, abbreviations, and symbols to ensure accurate dispensing and charting
  • Inventory Control: Prepare requisitions, enter information, manage credits or destruction, and restock supplies to maintain secure inventory
  • Medication Packaging: Assist in manufacturing, packaging, and labeling medications according to designated procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute (12:00 PM to 12:30 PM) lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience assisting a licensed pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications in a pharmacy; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Pharmacy Technician in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee, you must obtain registration as a Pharmacy Technician within the two (2) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
