DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the medical records system by preparing reports, maintaining files, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of documentation. As a Medical Records Assistant, you will perform the following duties:
- Census Reporting: Compile daily and monthly census information by coordinating data from multiple departments
- Statistical Work: Produce statistical reports that summarize resident activity and support clinical and fiscal needs
- Record Maintenance: Organize medical records from admission through discharge and integrate documents from all relevant areas
- Record Auditing: Review active and closed records to identify missing or late documentation for follow-up
- Coding Support: Assign diagnostic and procedure codes, as well as maintain required tracking systems
- Information Retrieval: Assist staff in locating records and release information to authorized individuals while protecting confidentiality

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of clerical experience maintaining or reviewing medical records, transcribing dictated or recorded medical information, or conducting medical abstracting and coding; or
- Graduation from an accredited medical secretarial, medical records, medical transcription, medical assisting, medical coding, or health information management program; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
