This role focuses on maintaining and repairing construction equipment, trucks, and vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation. As a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Repair: Perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles, construction machinery, and component systems
- Preventative Care: Carry out diagnostics, tune-ups, inspections, and system adjustments
- Safety Compliance: Conduct official state inspections and complete required documentation
- Diagnostic Work: Use equipment and procedures to identify issues and determine repair methods
- Work Area Safety: Maintain a safe workspace and report injuries or hazards promptly
- Field Adjustments: Make routine adjustments and minor repairs to support safe equipment operation

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Dual shifts for winter will be; 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, overtime, and travel may be required. Work hours subject to seasonal change.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) and Manual Transmission Restriction (E) removed, or equivalent.
- This position requires employees to pass the Department of Transportation's New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period.
- This position requires possession of an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N).
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class 3 or Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification at time of application.
- This position requires employees to possess an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations at time of application.
- Employees may be required to obtain an active Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H) due to operational needs.
- Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
- This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
