About the Department

The Event Planning & Program Coordination Intern supports the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership by planning and executing events while helping manage the day-to-day administrative operations that keep programs running smoothly. The intern will work closely with the Director to coordinate logistics, communicate with students and community partners, and improve the student experience across the Center's initiatives.

Position Duties
  • Plan and coordinate workshops, networking events, competitions, speaker series, and special events.
  • Manage event logistics, including scheduling, room reservations, equipment, catering, registration, and event materials.
  • Support event marketing by creating promotional content, coordinating social media posts, distributing flyers, updating event calendars, and helping execute communication campaigns.
  • Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to increase participation and engagement.
  • Assist with event setup, registration, hospitality, and breakdown.
  • Track attendance, collect participant feedback, and recommend improvements for future events.
  • Maintain event timelines, budgets, vendor communications, and planning documents.
  • Represent the Paul J. Hooker Center professionally while creating a welcoming and energetic environment for participants.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current BGSU undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Canva (or willingness to learn).
  • Interest in entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, or event management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Other Qualifications
  • Entrepreneurial Internships are coordinated through the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
  • Positions are paid, or may be unpaid to accommodate visas.
  • Qualifies for academic credit, additional documentation may be necessary to count the experience for credit.
  • Interns typically work 8-20 hours per week during the academic year, with flexible scheduling based on employer needs and student availability.
  • Some meetings, networking events, or entrepreneurial programming may occur outside standard business hours.
  • This internship is designed to provide meaningful experiential learning while helping students develop the mindset and skills needed to create value in startups, growing businesses, and innovative organizations.
