Job Description
About the Role

Picture your day starting alongside an active pier: you review complex ventilation assembly drawings and blueprints marked with weld symbols, material callouts, and precise datum/reference lines. You translate those plans into reality by laying out piece parts, fabricating them in the shop, and installing them aboard ship—foundations, ventilation trunks, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture—always to spec and with an eye for quality.

From reading fractional and decimal dimensions with a ruler to operating a press brake, drill press, and shears, you move fluidly between shop and ship, assembling components and making clean, accurate fits. It’s hands-on, physically demanding work in a shipyard environment where OSHA guidelines specific to shipbuilding are second nature.

What You’ll Work On
  • Layout and fabrication of sheet metal piece parts for shipboard systems
  • Installation of foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture
  • Assembly to specification with consistent quality and fit
  • Use of small hand tools (electric drills, grinders, rivet guns) and shop equipment (drill press, press brake, shears)
What You Bring
  • 3+ years as a first-class Sheet Metal Worker performing installation and shop fabrication
  • Ability to interpret complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches (weld symbols, materials, datum/reference lines)
  • Comfort with fractional/decimal measurements and precise layout
  • Experience assembling piece parts to specification with high workmanship standards
  • Track record succeeding in physically demanding, shipyard environments
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to shipbuilding
Preferred Backgrounds
  • Marine experience (preferred)
  • Aircraft, industrial, or commercial sheet metal experience (also welcomed)
Nice to Have
  • Rigger/material handling capability
  • Mobile equipment experience (JLG, scissor lift, etc.)
