Class A Truck Driver

The Class A Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of pallet materials and related products between company locations, customer sites, and designated destinations.

Operating within DOT and company guidelines, the driver ensures timely pickups and deliveries while maintaining a high standard of safety, vehicle maintenance, and customer service.

This role requires a strong knowledge of truck operation, road safety, and compliance with California and federal transportation regulations, including those governed by the FMCSA.

Essential Job Functions

Transportation and Delivery

• Operate Class A commercial vehicles to haul flatbeds or trailers containing pallets and other materials.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers, ensuring proper function and safety compliance.
• Secure loads according to DOT regulations and ensure cargo is balanced and properly restrained.
• Deliver to and pick up from customer sites, warehouses, and vendors across designated routes.
• Maintain timely communication with dispatch regarding delays, hazards, or issues.

Safety and Compliance

• Adhere to all DOT and FMCSA regulations including hours-of-service and vehicle operation rules.
• Submit daily driver logs and inspection reports in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols at facilities and delivery sites.
• Immediately report accidents, breakdowns, or safety concerns to the supervisor or fleet manager.

Operational Support

• Assist in loading or unloading materials when required, ensuring proper handling of pallets.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as checking fluids and tire pressure.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse teams, and customers.
• Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid California Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience operating Class A vehicles, preferably in a logistics or pallet environment.
• Current DOT medical certification.
• Ability to operate flatbeds, dry vans, and other transport equipment safely.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical troubleshooting and truck safety practices.
• Strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism.
• Availability to work assigned routes, including early mornings, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This position requires extended periods of driving, climbing in and out of vehicles, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to varying weather conditions. Class A Drivers must remain alert and attentive to road conditions, traffic, and safety requirements throughout their shift.
