Job Title: Medical Biller (Full-Time)
Location: Hoffman Estates, IL
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our growing multi-location medical practice. This is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, follow-up on unpaid claims, and maximizing reimbursement while maintaining compliance with all payer guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit and manage insurance claims (electronic and paper) in a timely manner
- Review and correct claim errors prior to submission
- Follow up on denied, rejected, or unpaid claims with insurance companies
- Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments accurately
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits when needed
- Work aging reports and prioritize high-value accounts
- Identify trends in denials and recommend process improvements
- Communicate with front desk, coding team, and providers to resolve billing issues
- Ensure compliance with payer regulations, including Medicare and commercial plans
- Assist with patient billing inquiries and payment plans as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of medical billing experience
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Experience with Medicare and commercial payers (Aetna, BCBS, UHC, etc.)
- Familiarity with EDI transactions (837, 835)
- Experience with EMR/PM systems
- Strong understanding of claim denials and appeals process
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in interventional pain management, vascular, or surgical specialties
- Knowledge of prior authorizations and predeterminations
- Familiarity with clearinghouses and payer portals (e.g., Availity, NGSConnex)
