Billing Clerk (Temporary Possible hire)
Location: San Antonio, TX 78238
Pay Rate: $19.00-21.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Clerk to support the daily operations of a busy medical billing department. This temporary position is responsible for handling patient billing inquiries, processing payments and refunds, maintaining accurate account records, and assisting with general administrative duties to ensure efficient department operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and assist patients with billing-related questions or direct calls to the appropriate department.
• Accurately post and log patient payments while maintaining current account balances.
• Process patient refunds according to company procedures.
• Update patient records, including billing addresses and account information.
• Assist patients in understanding billing statements, charges, and payment responsibilities.
• Support the billing department with additional clerical and administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of medical billing and/or collections experience in a physician’s office or healthcare setting.
• Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
• Experience with EMR systems; eClinicalWorks experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Billing and coding coursework or certification preferred.

Additional Information

• Temporary full-time position.
• Occasional travel to medical offices may be required for benefit education support.
