Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Equipment Operators to join our field crews on heavy civil and utility construction projects throughout Central Texas. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with excavators, dozers, motor graders, and/or compaction equipment, and understands what it takes to build a project to grade and to spec.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment (excavator, dozer, motor grader, compactor, loader, etc.) safely and efficiently on active job sites
- Perform earthwork, grading, and utility installation in accordance with project plans and specifications
- Read and interpret civil construction plans, grading plans, and utility profile sheets
- Set and check elevations using a rod and level, laser, or GPS/machine control systems to maintain proper grade
- Assist with base course installation, including moisture conditioning and lime/cement stabilization processes
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections and basic maintenance on assigned equipment
- Communicate effectively with foremen and crew members.
- Follow all company safety policies and job site protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum 1+ years of equipment operating experience in heavy civil, utility, or road construction (pay will depend on experience)
- Ability to read and understand civil plans, cross-sections, and grading details
- Experience shooting and calculating elevations (rod and level, laser grade, or machine control) is a strong plus
- Familiarity with base preparation, moisture conditioning, and lime or cement stabilization processes is a plus
- Valid driver's license is a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well as part of a crew
