Position Overview

The Director of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for the development, quality control, production and assessment of the curriculum, as well as professional development for FACTS instructors to continuously improve student outcomes while fulfilling the mission of FACTS and complying with Department of Education (DOE) requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implements student curriculum to include student worksheets for all FACTS clients. Participates in the selection of teaching tools to include “ready- made” books to ensure program meets FACTS and DOE objectives and requirements.
  • Continuously researches and provides information to Program Director and CEO regarding accepted best practice assessment tools and makes appropriate selection based on research.
  • Performs student learning assessments during school year to include pre, interim and post testing, according to expectations of DOE and FACTS. Compiles results, analyzes student growth and provides comprehensive report to both DOE and CEO, FACTS on time and accurate.
  • Develops and conducts effective Professional Development for instructors based on various factors – particular needs of the school as well as student assessment results. Creates Professional Development agendas for submission to DOE to receive purchase orders.
  • Conducts random instructor in-class observation. Provides feedback to instructor while also incorporating student test results from prior year. Provides coaching, strategies and assistance to ensure improvement of delivery and student outcomes. Reports findings to Program Director.
  • Trains all new FACTS instructors in curriculum and approaches to student support.
  • Prepares internal and external communication and correspondence related to schools, instructors and curriculum.
  • Completes and conducts performance evaluations for direct reports and provides input to support staff evaluations as directed.
  • Acts as a model to staff and instructors by demonstrating consistent professionalism in both demeanor and communication showing respect across all aspects of a culturally diverse environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design and development of curriculum.
  • Excellent PC skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement
  • Ability to mentor and train new instructors to effectuate improvement and positive student outcomes
  • Knowledge of curriculum instruction
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently/minimal supervision

Education/Experience

  • Masters Degree required – Masters in Education preferred
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience training, mentoring and coaching teachers
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience supervising others
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in administration and development of curriculum

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, up to 50% each during the workday
  • Must have dexterity to use various office equipment, to include, but not limited to PCs, copy machine, telephones
  • Able to commute between office and client sites as needed or directed by Program Director
  • Able to lift up to twenty pounds on an infrequent basis
