Overview
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced CNC equipment.  As a Shop Lead / CNC Machinist, you will organize the shop and combine technical expertise with leadership skills to drive efficiency, uphold safety standards, and foster continuous improvement. Your hands-on experience with CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential.  We are a modern, clean,  Air Conditioned shop.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate and program CNC lathes using Fanuc controls and Haas CNC Mills.
  • Lead daily shop floor activities, assigning tasks to team members and ensuring production schedules are met efficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and engineering specifications to ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
  • Maintain CNC equipment, tooling setups and hand tools
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols by maintaining a clean workspace and adhering to safety standards related to manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CNC machinist or operator with strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code; experience with Fanuc controls and HAAS mills is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise shop floor activities effectively.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T symbols, and mechanical schematics.
  • Excellent Communication and people skills
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
  • Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, speeds, and other machining parameters.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to machining environments; certification in forklift operation is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude combined with excellent problem-solving skills; attention to detail is essential for maintaining quality standards.
