Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Director of Wine & Beverage to lead and elevate the beverage program for a Michelin-starred luxury restaurant, boutique inn, and farm-driven hospitality concept. Reporting to executive leadership, this role will oversee all wine, spirits, cocktail, sake, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage programs while driving innovation, financial performance, and exceptional guest experiences across the hospitality portfolio.
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep expertise in luxury hospitality, Michelin-starred dining, and world-class beverage programs, along with a passion for mentoring teams and cultivating industry relationships. Michelin-starred experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a world-class wine and beverage strategy across luxury hospitality operations.
- Oversee wine lists, cocktail programs, spirits, beer, sake, and non-alcoholic beverage offerings.
- Partner with culinary and operations teams to create exceptional beverage pairings and guest experiences.
- Lead beverage purchasing, budgeting, inventory controls, vendor negotiations, and profitability initiatives.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop sommeliers, beverage managers, and hospitality professionals.
- Build relationships with wineries, distributors, importers, and premium beverage partners.
- Ensure compliance with beverage regulations, service standards, and operational excellence.
- Support new concept development, special events, wine dinners, and VIP guest experiences.
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of progressive beverage leadership experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury hotels, fine dining, or luxury hospitality portfolios.
- Michelin-starred experience is required.
- Professional beverage certification preferred (Master Sommelier, Advanced Sommelier, WSET Diploma, or equivalent).
- Proven success leading large-scale beverage programs, purchasing, inventory, and financial performance.
- Strong knowledge of global wines, premium spirits, sake, cocktails, and luxury beverage service.
- Experience mentoring beverage teams and developing high-performing hospitality professionals.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Extensive knowledge of California wine country and luxury hospitality standards.
