Job Description
Embark on a fulfilling assignment supporting students as a Special Education professional in the vibrant communities near Littleton, CO. Contract opportunities are available for dedicated SPED specialists eager to make an impact with elementary-age learners for the 2026-2027 school year—each assignment provides a full-time, school-based caseload with a supportive district team.
Openings include:
- Learning Specialist (Mild/Moderate Needs) — Arapahoe Ridge Elementary, Westminster: Guide students with diverse learning profiles in a positive environment.
- Affective Needs Specialist — Cherry Drive Elementary, Thornton: Lead a dedicated group addressing significant emotional and behavioral needs. Experience with crisis prevention, ABA, and autism is essential.
- Structured Learning Services — Hunters Glen Elementary, Thornton: Head a small, self-contained class supporting students with severe cognitive/behavioral disabilities. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is integral; extensive behavioral and autism experience is a priority.
Requirements:
- Active Colorado DOE Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement
- Experience with individualized instruction and support for cognitive, behavioral, or emotional disabilities
- Background in CPI, de-escalation, ABA principles, Denver Model, or other evidence-based behavioral interventions (role-specific)
- Leadership abilities to supervise a team of paraprofessionals (where applicable)
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with school stakeholders
- Commitment to timely credentialing and documentation
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized, evidence-based instruction and behavioral supports
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and staff
- Collaborate with speech, OT, psychology, and general education partners
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom culture
- Model and train behavioral strategies for paraprofessionals
- Maintain compliance with all district and state policies
