Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial construction projects, including schools, big-box retail stores, car dealerships, hotels, and municipal buildings within approximately one hour of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. You will contribute to both rough and finish carpentry tasks, supporting the successful completion of high-quality commercial facilities from framing through final trim.
Responsibilities- Perform rough and finish carpentry work on commercial construction projects, including framing, trim work, cabinetry, and general carpentry tasks.
- Read, interpret, and build from blueprints and construction drawings to ensure accurate layout and installation.
- Install a variety of building components such as metal studs, drywall, doors, trim, and cabinetry in accordance with project specifications.
- Assist with concrete and masonry-related tasks as needed, supporting the broader construction team.
- Carry out general labor duties on site, including material handling, site preparation, and cleanup to maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Participate in demolition activities, safely removing existing structures, finishes, and fixtures as required by the project scope.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to cut, assemble, and install materials.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members on site to ensure projects progress efficiently and meet quality standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and use of personal protective equipment.
- Adapt to changing site conditions and project requirements, working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
- At least 6+ months of specific carpentry experience in a construction environment.
- At least 6+ months of general carpentry experience, including hands-on work with framing and finish carpentry.
- At least 6+ months of experience reading and building from blueprints and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in rough carpentry, including framing and structural work.
- Proficiency in finish carpentry, including trim work and cabinetry installation.
- Experience with commercial construction projects and related workflows.
- Ability to perform general labor tasks on construction sites, including material handling and site cleanup.
- Experience with drywall installation and working with metal studs.
- Ability to safely participate in demolition work, using appropriate tools and methods.
- Capability to install building components such as trim, cabinetry, and other finishes with attention to detail.
- Physical ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and move more than 150 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods while performing job duties.
- Adequate vision for construction tasks, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- No high school diploma required for this role.
- At least 2+ months of additional carpentry work experience is preferred.
- Experience working with concrete and masonry on commercial job sites is a plus.
- Comfort working across multiple types of commercial projects, such as schools, retail buildings, car dealerships, hotels, and municipal facilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a construction crew, following direction and contributing to team goals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Willingness to perform a mix of carpentry and general labor tasks as project needs require.
