Job Title: Warehouse Worker and Forklift

Job Description

This role focuses on kitting, packaging, and material handling to support the shipment of refrigeration units and parts. You will prepare products for shipment, build crates for larger units, operate forklifts once certified, and help manage inventory using a first-in, first-out methodology. The position requires attention to detail, comfort working in and around loading docks and trailers, and a proactive approach to staying productive during slower periods.

Responsibilities

  • Perform kitting and packaging tasks by placing refrigerator parts into boxes and preparing them for shipment.
  • Build wooden crates for larger refrigeration units using appropriate tools and materials.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift after successfully completing the required forklift certification.
  • Assist with docking and blocking activities in the back of semi-trailers before and after forklift certification, ensuring safe and secure loading conditions.
  • Position and secure refrigeration units in the back of semi-trailers so they remain stable and do not move during transit.
  • Receive incoming shipments from suppliers, verify materials, and put away inventory in designated storage locations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and restock production lines using a first-in, first-out (FIFO) methodology.
  • Block off refrigeration units in semi-trailers using wooden blocks and small hand and power tools to prevent movement.
  • Replenish production lines and point-of-use storage locations with required materials and components.
  • Perform repetitive material handling, picking, packing, and kitting tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift safely and in accordance with facility procedures once certified.
  • Work on and around loading docks and inside enclosed truck trailers, adjusting to tight spaces as trailers fill with refrigeration units.
  • Use step ladders as needed to secure loads or perform tasks at height within trailers or on loading docks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping, organizing materials, and removing debris.
  • Proactively seek additional tasks or assistance when work slows down to remain productive and support team goals.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of warehouse experience.
  • At least 1 year of kitting experience.
  • Experience with inventory handling and material handling in a warehouse environment.
  • Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a sit-down forklift, including obtaining required forklift certification.
  • Experience with picking and packing orders in a warehouse or distribution setting.
  • Comfort using small hand tools and power tools for blocking and crate building.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, including inside enclosed truck trailers, and to use step ladders safely.
  • Capacity to perform repetitive tasks with consistent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to follow and support LEAN manufacturing practices and standardized workflows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in woodworking or basic carpentry, especially for building crates and using wooden blocks.
  • Experience working on or around loading docks and dock doors.
  • Familiarity with first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory methods.
  • Previous experience in a clean, organized manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to communicate proactively with supervisors and team members about workload and task assignments.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, process-driven environment with repetitive responsibilities.

Why Work Here?

You will work in a brand-new, large, and clean manufacturing facility that closely follows LEAN principles, providing an organized and efficient environment. The company offers a clear path to a pay increase upon conversion to permanent employment, rewarding strong performance and reliability. You will benefit from structured processes, modern equipment, and opportunities to learn skills such as forklift operation and crate building. The schedule includes a consistent first shift with optional half-day Saturday shifts when available, supporting work-life balance while offering additional earning potential.

Work Environment

This position is based in a brand-new, large, and clean manufacturing facility in Mukwonago that operates under LEAN manufacturing principles with efficient assembly lines and material flow. The role is on first shift; specific start and end times may vary slightly, and supervisors will communicate exact schedules. Occasional voluntary weekend work may be available, typically as a half-day shift on Saturday mornings. You will work primarily on loading docks and inside enclosed truck trailers, where space can become tight as trailers fill with refrigeration units, so you must be comfortable in confined areas and at step ladder heights. The facility includes 24 dock doors, creating a dynamic environment with frequent truck movements. You will use sit-down forklifts (once certified), small hand tools, power tools, and step ladders as part of your daily tasks.
