Shop Technician - Class CDepartment: Manufacturing
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Posted Hourly Range: $19.48 - $24.35/hour

Summary

Entry-level position providing general shop floor support, pulling parts from the stockroom, organizing materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Assists higher-level technicians with basic tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Pull parts and materials from the stockroom using pick lists.
  2. Assist with basic inventory tasks (e.g., directed cycle counts).
  3. Band outside wood.
  4. Organize and move used equipment, fiberglass floats, and electrical cable.
  5. Organize and maintain shop floor and buildings for cleanliness and safety.
  6. Safely operate material handling equipment (sit-down/stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, banding equipment) for basic movement tasks under supervision.
  7. Notify supervisor of any discrepancies, material shortages, or concerns.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  9. Any other duties as assigned.
knowledge, skills and abilities

Ability to read and interpret basic job travelers and pick lists. Must be able to utilize small hand tools and operate material handling equipment (sit-down/stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, banding equipment) safely. Ability to prioritize tasks, organize materials, and communicate effectively. Must be computer literate for basic data entry. OSHA approved forklift operator’s license when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemicals and other elements with one continuously present to the extent or being disagreeable.

Minimum qualifications

High school diploma / GED or equivalent. Entry-level; prior related experience preferred but not required (on-the-job training provided).

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8 – 10 hours per shift)

· Ability to lift and carry items up to 25–50 lbs throughout 8-10 hour shift

· Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, lifting and reaching throughout 8-10 hour shift

· Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive tasks (scanning items, stocking)

· Operating heavy equipment including an overhead crane, sit down or stand up forklift

· Ability to push or pull carts, stock trolleys, or racks

· Ability to climb small ladders or step stools (if required)
