Government Contracts Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Government Contracts Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in Washington, D.C.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 3-5 years of government contracts experience to join a nationally recognized Government Contracts practice. The team advises contractors across all phases of the federal procurement lifecycle, including regulatory compliance, bid protests, contract disputes, investigations, and government contracts transactions.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and related agency supplements.

  • Represent clients in bid protests before government agencies and tribunals.

  • Counsel clients on federal grant compliance and related regulatory requirements.

  • Advise on government contracts compliance, procurement strategies, and risk management.

  • Draft and negotiate government contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and joint venture agreements.

  • Support mergers and acquisitions involving government contractors, including government contracts due diligence.

  • Assist with government contracts litigation and investigations, including Contract Disputes Act (CDA) claims, False Claims Act (FCA) matters, whistleblower claims, and prime-subcontractor disputes.

  • Collaborate with clients on complex procurement, compliance, and transactional matters.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in, or eligibility for admission to, the District of Columbia Bar.

  • 3-5 years of government contracts experience at a law firm, government contracts boutique, or government agency.

  • Significant experience with bid protests and counseling clients on FAR compliance.

  • Experience advising clients on federal grant compliance.

  • Experience with government contracts litigation, investigations, and transactional matters is preferred.

  • Strong drafting, analytical, negotiation, and client counseling skills.

  • Excellent academic credentials and the ability to manage sophisticated matters in a collaborative environment.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $260,000-$390,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
