Location: Hempstead, NY
Schedule: Full-Time
Salary: $85,000 – $90,000 annually
Nassau Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Maintenance to lead all facility maintenance operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of building systems, excellent leadership skills, and experience managing maintenance operations within a healthcare, long-term care, or similar facility setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesDirect and oversee all Maintenance Department operations, programs, and activities.
Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance policies and procedures.
Supervise, train, and support maintenance staff to ensure efficient department performance.
Review departmental policies, procedures, and job descriptions annually and recommend updates as needed.
Coordinate maintenance services with Nursing, Dietary, Activities, Housekeeping, and other departments.
Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program for facility equipment and systems.
Ensure proper operation and maintenance of boilers, generators, compressors, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Conduct routine inspections of storage rooms, utility areas, workspaces, and facility grounds.
Monitor vendor performance and ensure contracted services are completed according to agreements.
Participate in state and federal surveys and inspections.
Develop and implement plans of correction for maintenance-related deficiencies identified during inspections.
Submit incident and accident reports within required timeframes.
Assist with infection control initiatives and safety compliance programs.
Prepare reports, evaluations, inventories, and departmental documentation as required.
Maintain compliance with building codes, safety regulations, labor laws, and facility policies.
Designate qualified departmental coverage during absences.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in maintenance, plant operations, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of boilers, generators, compressors, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Working knowledge of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
Current licenses or certifications required by state and local regulations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience in a healthcare, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or long-term care environment is preferred.
