About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at our Family Clinic plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare to patients of all ages. This position focuses on providing direct patient care, supporting physicians and nurse practitioners, and ensuring smooth clinical operations within a family practice setting. The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patient health, administering medications and treatments, and educating patients and their families on health maintenance and disease prevention. By collaborating closely with the healthcare team, the LPN helps to create a welcoming and efficient environment that promotes patient well-being and satisfaction. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the clinic’s mission of delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care to the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a family practice or outpatient setting.
  • Strong understanding of nursing principles, patient care standards, and medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a family clinic or primary care environment.
  • Additional certifications such as IV therapy, phlebotomy, or wound care.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and support diverse patient populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures by preparing patients and clinical equipment.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately while monitoring patient responses and reporting any concerns.
  • Collect and record vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant patient information to support diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Provide patient education on medication usage, wound care, lifestyle modifications, and preventive health measures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate patient flow by scheduling appointments, managing referrals, and communicating effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.

The LPN utilizes clinical skills daily to provide direct patient care, including taking vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and their families about health conditions and treatment plans, fostering understanding and compliance. Organizational skills are applied to maintain accurate patient records and manage appointment scheduling efficiently, contributing to smooth clinic operations. Proficiency with electronic health record systems enhances documentation accuracy and facilitates seamless information sharing among healthcare providers.
