Med/Surg RN

The Med/Surg Registered Nurse provides and coordinates comprehensive patient care within a fast‑paced medical-surgical environment. RNs in this role deliver direct, hands‑on clinical care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and educate patients and families on illnesses, diseases, treatments, and health conditions. As licensed medical professionals, they play a central role in ensuring safe, high‑quality care for veteran patients.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care

• Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Perform assessments, administer medications, and monitor patient status
• Implement and evaluate individualized care plans
• Provide wound care, IV therapy, and post‑operative monitoring
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately

Care Coordination

• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds
• Ensure continuity of care across shifts and departments

Patient & Family Education

• Educate patients and the public about illnesses, diseases, and health conditions
• Provide discharge teaching and self‑care instructions
• Support patient understanding of medications and treatment plans

Professional Practice

• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record
• Uphold ethical and professional nursing standards

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by recognized accrediting bodies at the time of program completion
• Active, unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state or territory
• Clinical experience in a Med/Surg or acute‑care setting preferred

Salary $90,000.00 to $95,000.00
