Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of HearingLocation: Warrenton, VAAbout Us:Strides Therapy & Educational Services is a leading local provider of contracted therapy services dedicated to enhancing students' educational experience in schools. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team of professionals, working collaboratively to support students' learning and academic growth within educational settings. We are a therapist and woman-owned and operated company.Additional Details: In-Person RoleRequirements:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.Current Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education - Deaf and Hard of Hearing PreK-12, or eligibility to obtain Virginia licensure.Knowledge of instructional strategies and communication methods for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including spoken language, ASL, total communication, or other appropriate communication modalities.Expected Hours per week: 7.5 hours a day; 37.5Responsibilities:Provide direct special education services to students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing in accordance with IEPs.Develop and implement individualized instructional plans that support language, communication, academic achievement, and self-advocacy.Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and related service providers.Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, eligibility meetings, and progress reviews.Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to ensure communication access.Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and complete required reports.Support students in the use of hearing technology and classroom accommodations.Provide consultation and training to school staff regarding strategies for supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and educational planning.Maintain compliance with district policies and federal and state special education regulations.Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in special education, deaf or hard of hearing, or related field.Valid Virginia Teacher Licensure, along with an endorsement of Deaf and Hard of Hearing TeachingExperience working with school-aged students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is preferred.Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education procedures.Familiarity with hearing technology, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/DM systems.Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Experience with American Sign Language (ASL), Total Communication, Listening and Spoken Language, or other communication approaches as appropriate for students.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to pass all required background checks and district onboarding requirements.Benefits:Health Benefits on Day 1 (Medical, Dental, Vision) with 50% employer contribution401k with match and immediate vesting, 100% match for the first 3% and 50% for 4 % and 5% (also a part-time benefit)Up to 40 hours PTO/sick time (also a part-time benefit)State Licensure ReimbursementNational Certification StipendProfessional liability insurance (also a part-time benefit)Cancer insurance (also a part-time benefit)Pet insurance (also a part-time benefit)Life insurance (also a part-time benefit)Catastrophe medical (also a part-time benefit)Please see our website here to learn more about us: https://stridesspeechtherapy.comPlease contact Karen Knight for more information and additional details.
