Job Description
Location: Staten Island
Hours: M- F 7am -4pm
Pay: $23-33 based on experience
Job Summary:
Performs QC inspections on parts and sub-assemblies of rail cars. Conducts visual inspections of parts and equipment to ensure conformance to quality standards and identify any non-conformance. All work is performed according to engineering drawings, written work procedures, and verbal and written instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use measuring equipment (scales, tape, calipers, micrometer, combination-square, etc.) to inspect parts, equipment, and their proper installation to the railcar body.
- Utilize both English and Metric systems of measurement.
- Record inspection data and findings in reports with a high degree of accuracy, completeness, and attention to detail.
- Read and interpret all engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all inspection phases, including: Receiving, Part Fabrication, Metal Matching, Sub-assembly, Shell Assembly, Truck Assembly & Test, Interior and Cab, Exterior, Under-floor, and Source.
Job Specifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a QC inspection field.
- Ability to work independently and conduct the final inspection of an entire railcar.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments (tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Ability to read, write, and speak English, and read engineering drawings (blueprints).
- Proficiency in the English measurement system, with the ability to learn the Metric system within a specified timeframe.
- Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment, climb stairs and ladders, and lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
