Company Overview

Mineral Community Hospital (MCH) is a vital Level IV Trauma Receiving Facility dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for our rural community. We provide a comprehensive range of services, including inpatient and outpatient care, 24-hour emergency services, and long-term care through our skilled swing bed program.

Position Summary

We are seeking a fully licensed, board-certified Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our laboratory team. This full-time position plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic laboratory services that directly support patient care, treatment decisions, and positive health outcomes.

We prefer candidates with lab experience but are willing to train the right newly certified professional who demonstrates strong potential and a commitment to excellence. The schedule offers flexibility with four 10-hour day shifts per week and two on-call nights per week. While on call, employees must be able to report to the hospital within 15 minutes. Housing is available for on-call shifts, and a sleep room is provided at the hospital when needed. Rotating weekends may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
  • Collect, receive, and process patient specimens for laboratory analysis while ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Utilize techniques and methodologies in bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, clinical chemistry, and morphological examinations.
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures with precision, care, and attention to patient comfort.
  • Utilize laboratory information management systems for accurate data entry, reporting, and documentation of test results.
  • Maintain strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols, infection control standards, and universal precautions when handling potentially infectious materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of laboratory equipment and instruments; promptly report any malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
  • Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities to uphold the highest laboratory standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to interpret test results and support patient management.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through a recognized certifying body (e.g., ASCP).
  • Phlebotomy experience and demonstrated proficiency in specimen collection and processing.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, safety protocols, and infection control practices.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Flexibility to work rotating weekends and respond to on-call duties within 15 minutes.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Flexible scheduling with housing support for on-call requirements.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit rural healthcare setting.
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for professional growth.

If you are a detail-oriented, safety-conscious laboratory professional passionate about contributing to high-quality patient care in a rural community hospital, we invite you to apply for the Medical Technologist position at Mineral Community Hospital.
