Job Description
General Manager – Boutique Automotive Detail Shop
Compensation: $20 to $25/hr. DOE
Schedule: 8am to 5pm, M-F, some Saturdays
Location: Houston, Texas 77016
Overview
We are seeking a visionary, highly organized General Manager to take full ownership of our boutique hand-wash and detailing operations. This isn't just a supervisory role—you will be the primary driver of the business, responsible for team culture, financial health, and strategic growth. But must also be ready to pitch in, hands on when required.
As the General Manager, you will bridge the gap between high-end technical craftsmanship and professional business administration.
Core Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Growth: Actively identify new revenue streams and implement strategies to scale the brand.
Personnel & Talent Management: Handle all hiring, training, and performance reviews. You are responsible for building a culture of pride, precision, and reliability through smart scheduling and mentorship.
Financial Oversight: Manage the "four walls" of the business, including labor cost control, supply inventory budgeting, and basic P&L reporting.
Operational Command: Ensure the studio runs like a Swiss watch. You will oversee the daily workflow, ensuring that boutique quality is never sacrificed for speed.
Client Experience: Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value clients, managing expectations and ensuring a "white-glove" experience from drop-off to delivery.
Required Qualifications
Business Experience - 4+ years of management experience with a focus on P&L and business operations.
Leadership -Proven ability to recruit, retain, and motivate a team of skilled technicians.
Business Acumen - Proficient in basic financial management (labor percentages, margins, and supply costs).
Growth Mindset - A track record of "intrapreneurship"—bringing ideas to the table that increased revenue or efficiency.
Technical Savvy - While you don't need to be the lead detailer, you must understand high-end detailing processes to manage quality.
Autonomy: Ability to run the business as if it were your own, backed by the resources of an established company and upper management.
The Ideal Candidate
The Strategist: You don’t just see a schedule; you see an opportunity to optimize labor and maximize daily revenue.
The Problem Solver: You approach challenges (mechanical, personnel, or financial) with a "solutions-first" attitude.
The Professional: You are equally comfortable discussing paint correction with a car enthusiast and discussing quarterly goals with ownership.
