Job Description
Position Summary: Responsible for developing and maintaining quality management systems and laboratory operations to ensure compliance with SQF and FDA standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Oversees lab testing, QA and ensures accurate reporting. Leads continuous improvement initiatives, maintains equipment, and fosters a safe, efficient, and high-performing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Laboratory Operations & Supervision: Manage daily lab activities for analytical and micro testing, analysis, and reporting. Oversee staffing, scheduling, and workload prioritization.
• Personnel Management: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff; manage performance and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety policies, and standards. Maintain documentation and audit readiness.
• Technical Leadership: Act as primary resource for troubleshooting equipment and complex customer challenges. Direct corrective actions and allocate resources.
• Equipment & Maintenance: Oversee procurement, calibration, maintenance, and repair of lab instruments; perform validations as needed.
• Special Testing: Conduct custom testing and collaborate with customers on formulation optimization.
• Cross-Functional & Client Support: Provide technical support to internal teams and customers; interpret results and resolve issues.
• Reporting & Data Management: Compile and distribute accurate technical reports and performance summaries.
• Safety Leadership: Promote EHS initiatives, enforce compliance, and maintain a safe work environment.
• Continuous Improvement: Analyze processes, develop training materials, and ensure electronic access to updated documentation.

Education and/or Experience:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
▪ 7–10+ years of laboratory experience in food & beverage manufacturing, including management or supervisory roles.
▪ Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, SPC, and process improvement concepts.
▪ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for process and system improvements.
▪ Proficiency in PC systems and software applications.
▪ Ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. However, the noise level in the work environment can often be loud and disruptive due to the nature of working with Production.
• PPE; primarily including hairnets, beard nets, gloves, safety glasses, lab coat, steel toe shoes, hard hat, face shield and/or masks.
• Exposure to forklift traffic, mechanical parts, wet surfaces, low and high noise levels as well as hazardous waste, and chemical exposure.
• Ability to work in close proximity of, and with other employees of the lab.
