Job Summary
The Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and supporting daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role works closely with production leadership across multiple shifts to develop production schedules, manage inventory and production data, support continuous improvement initiatives, coordinate training activities, and maintain manufacturing documentation. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting. Food manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and finalize daily production schedules to meet manufacturing and shipping requirements.
- Coordinate production runs while minimizing equipment changeovers and maximizing operational efficiency.
- Support overnight order planning and production scheduling activities.
- Review and verify production data for accuracy across manufacturing systems.
- Maintain production standards, recipes, process documentation, and operational records.
- Finalize inventory counts and ensure production data is accurately recorded.
- Coordinate training schedules for safety, quality, manufacturing processes, and operational procedures.
- Create and adjust employee work schedules to maintain adequate production coverage, including holidays as needed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, Lean manufacturing activities, and production meetings.
- Monitor compliance with safety, quality, GMP, and manufacturing procedures.
- Order manufacturing supplies and coordinate inventory of production materials.
- Coordinate maintenance activities such as equipment and production asset servicing.
- Prepare reports and production metrics for management.
- Support payroll timekeeping by verifying employee time and attendance records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, production coordination, or production scheduling required.
- Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience coordinating production schedules and manufacturing operations.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Experience using ERP or manufacturing systems; Oracle experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of inventory control and production reporting.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple departments and priorities.
- Willingness to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles is preferred.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Business or a related field preferred.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2–5 years of manufacturing or production experience required.
- Experience in food manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Experience with production scheduling, inventory management, and manufacturing operations required.
- Experience using Oracle ERP systems is a strong plus.
