Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in education as a Special Education Teacher supporting self-contained behavior classrooms with a structured, intensive approach for students on the autism spectrum and those requiring behavioral intervention. This full-time contract role spans from August 3 to May 21, 2027, based onsite near Glendale, AZ, and offers the opportunity to work closely with students who face emotional disabilities or additional needs relating to prosocial and self-regulatory skills.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Arizona Secondary Teaching License, current K–12 Special Education Certificate, and IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Prior experience in self-contained settings, ideally supporting students with autism or behavioral needs
- Familiarity with the diverse needs of at-risk, ethnically diverse, limited English proficient, and exceptional student populations
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and district guidelines and documentation for special services
- Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing individualized special education plans
- Training in Essential Elements of Effective Instruction (E.E.E.I.) or willingness to participate in staff development sessions
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and interventions in a self-contained, intensive support classroom
- Design and adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to meet each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with parents, general educators, related service providers, and administrators to monitor student progress and develop IEPs
- Incorporate strategies to build prosocial behaviors and self-regulation among students
- Maintain meticulous records in compliance with all pertinent regulations
