Special Education Teacher | Ware Shoals, South Carolina

We are seeking a compassionate educator to join a dedicated team as a Special Education Teacher, focusing on an extended resource/self-contained classroom for grades K4 through 5. You'll become one of three special education professionals at the building, working collaboratively within a supportive environment where students thrive.

This contract position spans the academic year, July 17 to June 2, and enables you to work closely with a small group of 8–12 students, alongside a highly valued classroom assistant. The role offers variety: some students attend all day, while others join you for targeted instruction in ELA and/or math.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher
• Experience with resource and/or self-contained special education settings, preferably at the elementary level
• Strong skills in adapting curriculum and differentiating instruction
• Ability to foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture
• Collaborative spirit to team with teachers, assistants, and support staff
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction aligned with IEPs
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social development
• Collaborate with general ed teachers, therapists, and families
• Maintain accurate records of progress and compliance documentation
• Create a nurturing classroom that welcomes all learners and promotes growth
